LOCATION
Chiriboga is a precinct located two hours from the capital city. It is a sub-tropical zone found at 1680 meters above sea level and belongs to the Chillogallo parish, in the region of Quito, the capital of Ecuador. REVIEW This precinct was created over seventy years ago, but during this time nothing has developed. It is a town that was born with the purpose of promoting the colonization and agriculture there during the thirties, but has been forgotten by each government. It began as an important village that possessed communication with the capital by means of magnetic telephone, but the new asphalt roads that run to the coast have caused this beautiful place to be of less importance. The magnetic telephone was eliminated more than thirty years ago because the area was not considered important, leaving its settlers totally abandoned. It was prohibited to become ill, since the only means of transportation that exists at present has a sporadic schedule. The community relies on a school made up of one classroom in which the children receiving training from first through sixth grade, taught by one teacher. This teacher attends to more than forty children that occupy all the different grades. There are no didactic materials, and no medical center; the children lack everything, including a sufficient education. Thus, the people can't even rely on that most elementary for their daily lives. The precinct does not have job opportunities, for this reason, the population has dedicated itself to the harsh task of cutting trees as the only resource for obtaining the family's revenue. |
